The Cashier is responsible for the collection and recording of all associated transactions on behalf of the company, made by Customers and adherence to company policies and procedures, thereby ensuring that loss is minimised. In this position the incumbent is expected to play a critical role by positively impacting customers’ experience through the provision of exemplary customer service.

Specifications

  • Opens Cash Register daily according to established schedule.
  • Balances and ensures that cash-floats received are accurate at start- of- day.
  • Ensures that daily exchange rates for all foreign currencies are received and utilised in processing transactions.
  • Receives cash from and disburses cash to customers for business transactions
  • Performs the duties of a Customer Service Agent from time to time to include process Moneygram, cheques, debit and credit card transactions.
  • Ensures that all transactions are processed in keeping with compliance/regulations
  • Ensures safe custody of cash received at all times.
  • Reconciles all transactions on a daily basis
  • Observes and adheres to all established procedures for the collection and disbursement of cash.
  • Be knowledgeable of the Branch’s Emergency/Security Plan and required actions
  • Performs clerical duties necessary for the completion of assigned tasks
  • Attends all required training sessions for Risk and Compliance or any special meetings as scheduled by the Company.
  • Provides appropriate customer service, internally and externally.
  • Performs any other related duty assigned from time to time.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with cash handling and cash register operations
  • Excellent mathematical skills
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software applications including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to solve problems and exercise good judgement
  • Ability to work under pressure, focus on details and work without constant supervision.
  • Good oral and written communication skills

Experience

  • Associate Degree/Diploma in Accounts or equivalent
  • Secondary education with passes in at least three (3) CXC subjects, including English Language and Mathematics or Accounts
  • Two (2) years working experience in cashiering operations or in a similar capacity
